The BlackMAX shock-absorbing lanyard is the first of its kind. It has the capability to determine how far a worker has fallen and can regulate the arresting force depending on the circumstances, a first in the industry. This is a unique feature to the lanyard and what makes it “smart-inch. The BlackMAX shock-absorbing lanyard is designed to arrest falls in both “Force level 1-inch and “Force level 2-inch condi�tions. This eliminates the need for 2 styles of shock-absorbing lanyards for employees that may be exposed to both potential fall conditions throughout the workday. If a worker has fallen 6-feet (1.8m) or less, the lanyard arrests the en�ergy at 900 lbs. (4kN). However, if a worker has fallen at a height greater than 6-feet, the lanyard will arrest the energy at 1,800 lbs. (8kN). In both cases, the lanyard does not allow the extension to exceed 42-inch (1.1m). The BlackMAX comes standard with a 5,000 lb. (22.2kN) Gateload snap hook. With Gateload snap hooks, workers are able to tie back to the lanyard around a structure and still stay within regulation, connect at feet level with the added security of the 5,000 lb. gate to prevent gate loading disconnection.
